I don't like the extremely small toolbox volume in ANY of the combo's I've seen. They all say the low profile is for 5vr trailer clearance. Well, I don't and most likely never will have one, so I'd rather have the extra storage space.

Any ideas aside from a custom tank ?
At 7+ pounds per gallon, you'd probably want that much weight as low as possible
(and secured to something more substantial than the bed rails).
Nothing like launching a 50 gallon, 350 pound, molotov cocktail at the back of your head in the unfortunate event of a collision.

If you need the extra storage space that a "regular" toolbox would give you, buy an over the rail tool box and get an "L" shaped fuel tank to go under it. That way you can have about 90 gallons AND a full size tool box for all of your tools.
I thought about it, but I don't need that much tool space.

I have a locking cap on mine - - the cap for a 99 Dodge pickup fit the tank perfect.

I can't imagine having a filler inside the tool box - - what happens if you have a spill while filling?
