I'm disabled. How big a job is it to install

A rear sway bar for hauling a slide in truck camper? My truck is stock except for the trim items I've added mostly for looks. I don't feel like I need the sway bar for the four lane highways, but it would sure help on those twisty mountain two lane blacktops here in West Virginia. Thanks guys, Varmint...

I guess the question is how disabled are you. Very personal, I know, but maybe we would have a better idea what your skills and capabilites are. All the sway bars I have done are pretty much a bolt-in operation, nothing terribly physical to it. I think the worst part is how tired my arms get turning the wrenches from underneath the truck! I used a heavy duty jack to raise the axle to get the end links in the right places.

There are some on here who have taken thiers off. You might ask around or put a want ad in the classifieds, the job really depends on your ability. Goodluck,,Rick

Varmint,
First Question
1. Do your arms and hands work?
If they do you can do it. I'm a parapalegic in a chair I work on cars trucks tractors lawnmowers climb up on them under them inside of them pull a fourty foot gooseneck. I hook up to climb in the back and evrything else. Ain't much I can't do just sometimes a different way of doing it. If you can answer 1st ? you can do it.

Thanks guys, we'll give it a try.

Next question is where does one go about getting this bar other than the classifieds here? Is it something that is best bought as an aftermarket item or should a guy go back to Dodge and buy theirs? Not knowing anything about them as I do, don't look like there would be a lot of difference in them??? Thanks again.

Varmit-you can get the right one for your rig from jc whitney they stock Helwig units. I put one on a E350 Ford van 2 yrs ago. Like they have said above, easy to do, just think about what has to be done and what mechanical advantages you can use. "jack the axle to get the line up right" is one that is great. I used "cheater bar" on my wrench to get my leverage due to my backpains and the angle that I had to work at because of the backpains. ANYTHING is possible when you apply your self and besides you have an excellent source of info out here if you ask and explain the situation.
