I Finally Weighed It

I stopped on my way home today to get fuel and decided to weigh my truck with both trailers. I wasn't too suprised with what the scale said:
Steering:4140lb
Drive: 4500lb
Both trailers' axles:8300lb
Total Gross:16940lb
Now I need to weigh the truck empty to find out what the pin weight is. I used a segmented scale hoping to get all the axle weights. I asked the woman behind the fuel desk how come the trailer axles were lumped together even though they were on different segments and she just looked at me with that STUPID look and said "I don't have any idea" with a real snotty attitude. I just turned around and left saying something about how well snowballs would last down below before I would be back........................
I am impressed though, pulling both trailers last year I got 14mpg and this year I got 13.6mpg traveling the same route. I would like to see somebody beat that with a gasser!

I weighed mine the other day, see sig below. Without me and only about 12 gallons of fuel in it, and my 35lb son my truck weighed 7280lbs. Add a full tank of fuel and subtract my son and the empty weight of my truck would be about 7429.

I weighed mine the other day also and with a full tank of fuel and my estimated 100-150 lb toolbox the truck weighed in at 7460 lb without me in it. What a heavy pig!!

My '03 2500 CTD 2WD Quadcab weighs 6900 lbs. with me and a full tank of fuel. Since there's no significant weight difference between the 2500 and SRW 3500 themselves it would seem that the difference must be in the 4WD, which appears to cost around 500 lbs. You may never plan to tow a 5th wheel but if you do 500 lbs. is a pretty big hit to the payload (pin weight) capacity of a SRW truck.

Of course if you really need 4WD and don't plan to tow heavy then it doesn't matter, otherwise it seems like something to consider.

My truck withme, 1/2 tank, all my junk and tools and some landscaping equipment PLUS our empty 14ft. GN dump trailer weighed in at approximately 11,000. I want to see what just the truck weighs, because I have to get it down to 6200 for a truck pull in August

Check these weights from the local CAT scale. See my sig for truck details...

These weights are with myself, full tank of fuel, toolbox, and headache rack...

4920 lbs steer

3580 lbs drive

8500 lbs total weight!!!

With 32' H & H enclosed gooseneck with additional height...

5000 lbs steer

5960 lbs drive

5620 lbs trailer axles

16580 total gross combined

What gets me is that even empty I'm only 280lbs off of the front GAWR! I can't believe the steer axle is that heavy even unloaded. Good thing I didn't add the winch that I have sitting in the shop!

I don't know when I will be weighing the truck by itself. I'm guessing the weight to be about 6850# or so. Anybody weigh their club cab and have the weight?

Tom, my truck (see sig) weighed in at 7120 w/ me (180lbs.give or take ) full tank. I think my axle weights were 4280 front and 2840 rear. I think that's the way it was. Any way it was 7120lbs. With my GN it was 4300 front, 3880rear axle and 4820 trailer axles 13000lbs. empty.

2001 2500 4x4 swb cummins auto, nothing in the bed, 7/8 tank full with me at 195 lbs. quad cab, fullly loaded, leather etc.

4240 on the front axle
2480 on the rear axle

6720 total

Just bought it June 10th, 2004. It had a 5th in the bed, but was removed before I bought it.

Note, the bolt holes for the fifth are actually centered behind the center of the axle line.

thats because of the short bed. It is actually making do with equipment not made for the work (too short for proper weight proportioning.)

My truck is 7440 with me and 3/4 fuel. I was 299 lbs at the gym today. My leer cap and westin nerf bars probably added 260 lbs to the overall weight of the truck. This is off the scale at the local landfill.
