How hot is yours?

See my sig below for the truck. It is basically a new truck with about 17k on it. When towing my camper on the highway the temp stays where I think it ought to. When I'm in town it runs at like 220 - 230. The factory gauge doesn't go red until 245, bit this seems pretty hot to me. Is this what the rest of you are experiencing? I would really like to keep temps below 200.

That seems hot to me; are you able to verify the engine temp with an IR sensor? Maybe the guage is off/faulty.

hehe....the title to this thread is misleading!!

Seriously though, that is too hot....I agree that the gauge accuracy should be verified before looking for a mechanical problem on such a new truck.

Mine stays at around 180-185 normally unless it's really hot out. Then I may see 200 degrees. Towing I usually stay around 200-220. I run a 180 thermostat though.
I'd say yours is running a bit too hot. Your fan clutch may be going bad. Do your temps come down if you turn the A/C on? They should....

I guess verifying the temp is a good idea. But, the attitude monitor and the stock analog gauge look like they are pretty close to matching. Maybe I'll just take it to the dealer to let them check. Of course they won't be able to reproduce the results without a load in tow since it never gets hot unloaded. Could it be that I have the juice on level one and too much fuel is causing the temp to rise. Maybe I should try it on the stock setting and see if it gets as hot.
