35 foot trailer with a 1/2 ton...... god had better be on his side. On the other hand I did see a nice ford 450 pulling a 10 foot trailer, made me proud that he opted for the powerstroke for that kind of load.

If a 1/2 ton is for mulch
Then a s-10 must be for leaves.
I like seeing the guys around here towing cars with s-10 and Rangers. Crawling up one side of the hill and slidin down the other

boys i would rather have a fiver than a bumper pull any day of the week. we have pulled 20 foot gooseneck stock trailers with 1500 Z71 chevrolets with around 8000# lbs and never had very many problems before we got the new toys.

6700 # tow capacity! Thats IT? Geeze, my truck hasn't even grown up yet and it is rated at 5000# witha V-6. I have had a Ford Ranger 4x4 on a 2000# car hauler trailer on mine and it handled it just fine. I felt quite comfortable pulling it. It was a bit of a balancing act with the load since it was such a short trailer.

Buying an RV is like buying a car . NEVER pay the sticker price . Hig volume dealers offer large discounts . Some auto auctions have repo campers now and ten . Try www.rvtrader.com or eBay .

just pray it's still under warranty

pulled a 40' GN with 27 wet round bales on it with my 74 dodge 1/2 ton (kinda) shortbed. has a dana 70 and duals, with 2 sets of half ton springs under the back. Sure had quite a bit of pucker factor doing it. Good thing i stayed off the highway. LOOK MA, NO BRAKES!

cincydiesel,
I lost track of this thread...
The short wheelbase is not a factor w/ the 5th wheel. The annoying part is the gutlessness of the poor 318 up big hills. Even on moderate hills, trying to stay at 60 w/o dropping into 2nd could be a challenge.

Before I drove the 1500 down to MB, SC last May I started checking out a local Dodge CTD. When I got back it was gone but I found another good deal on one so I jumped on it.

Staying around home is no problem with the little truck but I prefer the power of the diesel and the better disc brakes.
