I was in it about 8 yrs ago.Money wasnt bad fuel wasnt nearly the price it is now.I enjoyed it.I would suggest looking in your local paper and see if there is anything advertised there. If not look around and if you see a hot shot rig ask them. Its not hard to get into just expensive.

I looked into it hauling rv for a weekend gig. Between insurance, fuel, extra fee, licensing and plates. .89-.95 a mile i couldn't break even unless on the road the all the time. Then little money. That was just working for the dealers in the STL, MO area about 4 years ago.

Seems the guys running freight for the oil fields are doing pretty well. Rv transport is TOUGH its slow, pay is low, its a hard way to make a living. Auto transport is also slow, pays better but since you run under your own authority and insurance its MUCH more costly to start.
I'd honestly say if you have a decent job or can get one don't get into this business right now. I'm in and if I could find a decent job I'd take it.

There's no money in it right now . I've seen a dozen hotshotters leave the business in the past year . One of the best in the business told me he barely broke even last year . I doubt anybody starting new trying to break into the business would have any chance of making it .
