Hot lead for trailer batt Question

I bought a Pop up trailer, and it has a battery wired into the harness,, So i bought the proper towing plug, and need to run a + wire to the plug at rear,,,,
Do I just run a wire from the batt to the rear plug?
What gauge? and what fuse size?
The funny part of the poop up is that it weighs 900 lb, and the origional owner has the optional trailer brakes installed, I dont think i'm going to be needing them!
I was thinking 10 gauge wire with a 30 amp fuse will due!
I dont want another relay if i can help it!
Peter.

The setup I wired on my brother's minivan has a 12 gauge wire straight off the battery with a 30 amp self resetting breaker under the hood. We've had no trouble with it.
