help with tires
Hi all
I am fixin to put some new rubber on my 02. I currently have BFG A/T 285/75/16, and like the look and size on the truck - but don't love them. I am also now I'm hauling a 5th wheel and the BFG's i have are 8ply, and I'm a bit concerned about the weight.
I liked my first set of Coopers, but couldn't find a 10 ply in that size, until now. Has anyone had any experinece with the Cooper Discoverer AT3? Looks like a good all-around tire. I know some people love the Michelins, but these look about $200 to $300 cheaper for the set.
Any feedback I could get would be appreciated - thanks!

I bought the Nitto Dura grapplers, they are a E rated 10 ply and rated at 3750. I have not put them on yet but really like the tread pattern, and can't wait to tow my 5th wheel with them. They were $191 a tire.
I run nothing but Michelin E rated tires when towing my 5th wheel, I run them as I have never had any problems at all with Michelin, they balance well no vibration, I have tried a few other brands over the years and always end up back with them, and will buy nothing else any more, just my .2c worth, and I stick with the 265 as I stay in a really nice RPM range, works pretty good.
I am buying tires from Ntb this weekend. Manager said I could substitute e rated 10 ply Michelin Ltx A/T2 for Nitto, which are buy 2 and get 2 free in any size this weekend along with other brands. You will walk out the door for less than $700.
Michelin E rated tires is all I use on my tuck and fiver. They do make pulling easier. fiver is rated at 10.500 grw and each tire is 3180 ? , which means lots left over. They hardly get warm on a 1 hr tow. One issue solved for me. later Don

I do the same as Don T. I changed to Michelin light truck tires and everything has been good for about 20K miles. I changed after failig 6 Chinese tires on a trip from Florida to Illinois. The crappy Chinese built tires had more than adequate rated capacity and were properly inflated.
