Help with choosing a hitch.

I'm considering a 5th wheeler, but I don't want to give up my truck bed. I will still need to haul a bunch of stuff in my truck in between haulin the camper. Is there a 5th wheel hitch out there that is removable and doesn't take up a bunch of my bed when the hitch is out of the truck?

When I take my Reese 5th wheel hitch out, all that's in the bed are the two bed rails that sit level with the bed liner. It's held in with pins so it's a five minute job to remove it. The head comes out with two pins and the saw horse comes out with four pins.

I don't suppose you could show me a picture of what it looks like with just the rails in the bed?

I have a B&W turnover ball, cut a 4" hole in the bed, the only thing sticking above the bed with the ball down is the chain hoops that hang down at bed level. They have a 5th wheel that fits in the hitch. They're at www.turnoverball.com. I put mine in myself, less than 3 hours, $375 delivered, I don't know how much the 5th wheel part is.

Check out the Pullrite hitch line. Completely removes from the bed. Pricey but well made, heavy but totally removeable. Good customer service to boot. FWIW.

There are photos of the B&W with "companion" 5th wheel hitch in my gallery. I was in the same boat, wanted a flat bed when the hitch was out, and the ability to also pull a goose was just a plus.

I am quite happy with mine, and as stated above install was pretty easy. If you get one, though, send me a message as there are a few tips that would make it easier.

Whatever brand you go with, I would recommend one that pivots 4 ways...

You might take a look at this outfit.

I took about 2 hours mounting mine , and like the flat floor and the adaptor seems very strong. It is similar to the B&W
