To Heavy?

I was pulling a load of hay this weekend and stopped in a store off of Interstate 10 for diesel. I a man in Chevy came up to me and told me I was crazy for pulling this big of a load and that I am going to brake my truck in half if I pulled it any further. I had my 30 foot flat bed with 18- six foot round bails on it, with trailer and hay I figure it was around 21k, and my springs are not bottomed out. I've been pulling loads like this for years with this truck and trucks just like it in the past. Like I said I have been doing this for ever and the loaded trip takes me about 5 hours so it isn't a short pull. I am going to keep on doing this I just wanted to know what yall thought of it.

My truck is a 01-2500-4x4 with the over load camper package.

I'm sure you pointed out that it was a DODGE and not a chevy, right? Man, he set himself up for you to really smack him down with authority!

well; 6' bales of hay weigh at least 1500# and if their 5x6 more like 2000# so 18 of them is 27k in hay plus trailer at least 7k or more, so that's 34k to 43k sounds good to me KEEP ON TRUCKIN!!

They are 5x6's but they don't weight 2000# more like 1,200#. 34k or 43k would have my rear bumper dragging the ground. My Goose Neck hitch only has a 30k rating.

If i figured right trailer with load might be about 29k, wich means you have about 10k onyour truck it is more then a 2500 is rated for but it not that bad, i've never broke a truck but have come close to breaking a trailer in two. well i cracked the frame half way thru the I beam.

Not trying to be funny, but just compare the frame on a Dodge to the frame of a Chevy. The Dodge frame is way bigger and stronger than the Chevy frame. If the guy with the Chevy were pulling that big of a load he just might break the Chevy in half.

Heck ask anyone that installs 5th wheel hitches they will tell you the chevy frame drills like butter, compared to the Dodge frame,, that alone should tell you something

Looks like to me the front of your trailer will hit the ground and your bed is about to hit your tires but hey that is just my opinion on it.

This was a couple of weeks ago hauling with a friend of mine.

This was some hay we bought this weekend. Full 5x6 haygrazer bales that definitely had some weight to them.
