Good info everyone, thanks I think I got it. When you people say square bales do you mean square same size on all sides or long one way and square the other? I have never seen a square square bale and I am an old fart.

I've never seen a "square bale either......I assume they are speaking of rectangular shaped bales.

Actually I thought you guys may have developed a new size in baling.....we have just begun to see round bales here, but we have at least five sizes of
"square" bales that I know of.

I saw a guy N. of Dallas who had a trailer built for round bales. He towed 14 at a time. My neighbor hauls small square bales(about 85 lbs) into a banded cube of 18 bales....pretty handy.......he can haul 6 cubes at a time with his trailer.

Was that a modified flatbed? Or was it one of the purpose built round bale wagons?

I've seen the ones that haul two rows side by side in the cradle with the flat side forward. Makes for a wide load when you're dealing with 6' rolls. Plus it requires the grapple to load as far as I know.

Most balers in this area do the 5' wide rolls, so they're a little wide on the trailer. But most of the bought hay we've picked up has been the 4' wide rolls. They haul really nice since they sit perfectly on the deck with no overhang.

Looked like a custom built trailer. Carried them in two rows of seven. Bales went into a V shaped carrier.

Was this it?

Would be nice for moving hay since it saves the unloading time.

Weighs usually from 1600-2200 lbs is about 5' in diameter and 6' long. A lot of times you will see a greenish mesh fabric wrapped around them.
