I never have run the 91! It doesnt look like it will be to bad there may be a few steap grades along the way but nothing you can't handle with your truck. Doesn't appear to have to many curves in it either! I would say you would be ok going down it!

Rt. 91 from I-70 at Copper Mtn. to Leadville is a very good road. It's paved and has uphill passing lanes. We drive this Rt. often pulling a TT. with no problems although there are some grades.
If going back to I-70 and going west, use Rt. 24 north to Minturn.
Do not try and take Rt. 82 to Aspen as it is limited to vehicle length due to narrow winding switchbacks.
If you have a little extra time you may like to take Rt. 24 south to highway 285 at Buena Vista and continue south to Highway 50 and then go west to Montrose and highway 50 north to Grand junction and I-70. This is some of the best of scenic Colorado.

Are you heading out for easter jeep safari?

I'll be there for the xrra race (rock racing) for my brother and his partner, as well as easter jeep safari!

Maybe we'll see you there!

No we decided to avoid the Easter Jeep Safari Madness. This is my first time there so I figured we could cover the most ground on our own. Good luck with the XRRA. Its a blast.

When are you going then? I'll be meeting friends there the week after EJS for the same reasons...

We are actually leaving the third week of May. Not sure the exact day yet. Still trying to get out of some work commitments. We should be there through Memorial day weekend

Good advice on not taking 82 to Aspin. Have taken it in a times, it is slow going. Also have sime a flatlander with his 5er hung up on one of hairpin turns. Not sure how he got it out.

Who ever goes to Leadville, remember is is about 13,000 feet above sea level. Not much air to breath. Be carful up threre.

71 is not to bad. I do it a couple times a year with my toy hauler. We go to Taylor Park( just west of Buena Vista) with the ATVs every year. There are a few steep grades but if you dont get in to big of a hurry its a easy drive. After comming west out of Denver it is going to seem extreemly easy. Make sure you have plenty of fuel before getting into the hills. Last time I looked while pulling over the continental divide I was getting rite at 3MPG going up. A tank of fuel will disapear between Denver and Leadvile. I always stop for fuel in Big Springs Nebraska, then again in Brush Colorado and again in Idaho Springs just west of Denver. The fuel I put in in Idaho Springs is usaly just enough to get us out to Taylor Park and back in to Buena Vista on the way home. Have fun. I hope to do the trails you listed some day on my ATVs. My only problem is that every time I get to Taylor I never leave to explore the great trails in the surrounding areas.

Yeah, but go south on 550 out of Montrose to Ridgway then 62 to Placerville then 145 to Vancorum then 90 to CO/UT border where it becomes 46 to La Salle Junction then 191 north to Moab..... You'll still miss the Ouray/Silverton/Durango/Telluride area but that is a whole 'nother country for your next go-round ...... Rogee?

FOR SURE, PICK THIS UP. You can plan your fuel/food/sleep stops right down to the exact mile, especially useful for pre-planning travel with multiple vehicles. Have fun. I just did 2 round trips from MD to CA in January, one trip was with a 34 ft Montana 5th wheel. I took the southern route I40. Was great trip.
