I'll take a shot-hose plumbed to a spark plug hole, crank engine, instant compressor

WD-40 and a lighter? I saw that on a discovery show awhile back. They had these beefed up Toyota Land Cruisers running huge flotation tires in the arctic. One lost its bead and that is what they used to get it to seat.

Too bad the new wd-40 won't work. It's not nearly as flammable as it used to be.

Starting fluid, then trickle it out the side and throw a match at it.

Bettin' on Ether, a.k.a. Starting fluid. Lift off the ground with a jack, spray inside tire, pull can back, add spark. Do it lots on 16.5" wheels on the old Ford.

That's how the local tire shops get the large tubeless flotation tires to seat the bead. The biggest tires take 3 small cans of ether.

I don't know if the new WD-40 works either. The old formula made great starting fluid. Only needed to carry 1 brand on the service truck.

That is the way we did it on deployment in the Seabees. We called it fireballing. Used starting fluid or brake cleaner out of aerosol cans.

Kind of funny that in the name of safety we were told not to do it anymore, at the same time we were still airing up split rim semi tires without a cage though!

does anyone have that video ? i thought that was pretty cool emergency repair. i saw it on bloodydecks, but i can't figure out how to post it up here. yea the guy just sprayed wd40 into the tire, lit it and bam the tire was seated and partially filled. starter fluid could inflate it up good i'd wager.

I've gotta say that's pretty cool....

Wont be my primary way of doing it, but a nice "get you out of trouble" idea. For now, I'll hope the beadlocks stop this from being a necessary skill.....

Thanks!
