Gooseneck v. Bumper Pull Measurements

I'm looking at going from a bumper pull to a gooseneck and want to stay close to the same length behind the truck for ease of getting in and out of tight spots at trailheads.

Right now I have an 18' (16+2 dove) car hauler. I'll keep it too, but I'm looking at having an enclosed gooseneck built. Just debating on the size.

I am currently looking at the 28 - 32 size. Anyone know what length gooseneck would equal the same length of trailer behind the truck?

We have a 20' goose, equipment hauler, much longer than our 14' car hauler, the main problem is the tracking of the trailer tires, you almost need two lanes, so that you can swing out. However, I really like the gooseneck, much easier to turn around in tight spots.

shouldn't start this but trailer length is determined by the box length of the trailer, the difference will be the distance from the front of the trailer box to your rear bumper, with stock hitches on the trailers (some bumper pulls are built with an extra long hitch for tigher turning your looking at approx. 3'

Correct. My 18' TT is really a 22' tip to tail. Based on my 18" hitch and 8' box I have figured that my bumper-bumper length is the same as with a 30' 5er.

They are almost the same size. The deck starts about 3 feet from the back of the truck with a 5ver or goose. A bumper pull is about 3 feet so overall if the deck is the same the total length will be very close to the same. I just went back to a bumper pull from a 5ver/goose flatdeck and I am beginning to regret it even though I haven't used the trailer yet.

18 to 24 would be the same, you dont count the neck only the deck
