I thought about building sometihng like that but i wondered the same thing. Or i thought that maybe the extra leverage from the whole 20 inches would actually put too much strain on the trailer breaking the frame..... like on a 5th wheel any thoughts? Why not just buy a sliding gooseneck hitch?

I don't, but only because I couldn't find anyone that sold them other than my local RV dealer, who charges a premium for everything. I went with the B & W instead. I would buy one, though, if I could find one at a fair price.
