Good car hauler...opinions

In the next few months, my wife and I will be making a trip from out here in San Diego ALL the way back to my mountains in Virginia...well, I will also be re-enlisting in the next few months and taking orders MAYBE to somewhere else...either way, we want to take our third vehicle back home and put it in our garage. It is a 2005 Toyota Matrix...might not get hauled around very often, but I am sure that when I get back home, I will be hauling my four wheelers and some stuff on the trailer as well, so it won't go to waste...what kind of hauler do you all recommend? I prefer open to enclosed trailers. Thanks in advance!

Get a tandem axle, with brakes on one axle. A 12' (not sure of dimension of Matrix) or 14' has a curb weight of around 1,200# and a GVWR of 7,000# (with no brake axle, it is limited to 2,900#). You can always add a brake axle after purchase, but it is more expensive than buying a trailer with a brake axle. I bought a new 12' with ramps, one brake axle, here in central Florida for $1,500. Also check on EBAY, there are loads of trailers all over the place.

Best of luck, and thank you for your service to our Country.

I haul around my jeep on an 18' trailer w/ 2 3500# axles. Once you put a couple of those big go-karts and a 4 wheeler on it, it fills up fast.

Trailer

PACE or Featherlite.. Depending on your budget.. I have a Pace 20 foot enclosed and haven't had any problems or anything go wrong with it.. Just make sure that you get floor fittings welded to the frame of the trailer not bolted to the wood floor with those cheap plates...

102 Ironworks makes some pretty nice open car hauler trailers if you want a metal deck. Lots of options available. I like the way they finish the underside of their trailers.

Check out Carson trailers. They are there in So Cal. I bought a 22' deck triple 6k axle. A little overkill but that is what they had when I needed one. I think it was around 6k out the door.

I like the PJ trailers and Big Tex I recomend a 20 ft. trailer with a dove tail for the car. I think the matrix is a small car you would be able to fit an ATV and the car on a 20 ft trailer you will also have room to adjust you're load on a 20ft.
