I'm looking for a front hitch for my 03 Dodge 2500 diesel.

Just curious which ones are the easiest to install and will hold a 285 lb motorcycle up front...

Anyone have such a setup?

Personally, I like the front end replacements. I have a Ranch Hand Legend series and they all include a built in receiver hitch that will hold your motorcycle fine. (pics in the gallery).

If you would rather not put on a front end replacement, then Hidden Hitch makes a front receiver hitch only that is rated 500lbs tongue weight. Just go to the link above and input your truck info. Hope that helps.

I gave some thougth to a replacement bumper combo, I know the stock is paper thin.

But I'm carrying a heavy truck camper and with the Cummins up front I don't want the extra 300/400 lbs of a third party heavy duty bumper.

If it wasn't for the weight I'd do that...

I have the hidden hitch. Works good install is not too bad (remember hole saw!).

 

I haven't seen a motorbike on the front of a truck since my uncle's set-up on his f-150 several years ago. He hit a pot hole, the trail 90 bounced off and he ran over it.

I've got the Hidden Hitch but had the place I bought it from install it so not sure how hard it was. As mentioned rated for 500lbs tongue weight.

 

Same here with the hidden hitch and it works good.
I'm working on a fishing box for the front and going to make it hook to the tow hooks and the 2" rec so it should hold anything I want.

 

It looks like Hidden Hitch is the most popular, I'll place the order today.

My Moto-Tote motorcycle hitch rack will be here in a few days, so maybe by next week I'll have both and be good to go.

You will be happy with the moto-tote. I picked up a used one a few months back. I love it. I used it on the rear for my CL360 all the way out to NY and back. I also had a CB 450 on it a few weeks ago. be carefull though when unloading I did it by myself however be cautious of the tension on the tiedown straps. The one time i had someone helping me it got launched on its side off the rack. Just broke the mirror though. I want to find a front hitch for my 93 so I can put my honda 90 up there.

 

The place I bought it from said that Hidden Hitch, Reese, Draw Tite and a couple of others were all the same hitch just different names on them and possibly different price and availability. Don't know if it was true or not?

 

I have the H/H #5020 front hitch on my truck and Love it for my winch no not my wife my winch to pull the furds out win thy get stuck. Or to carry my cooler rack. #5020 H/H is the number for it. And it is a pane to put it on you have to remove the front bumper almost. Have the place you buy it from put it on

 

all I can think of is bugs, bugs, bugs.... It would be cool to see a dragonfly painted onto your gas tank. I think it would be a nice design

 

I'd love to do that, but I don't have enough GAWR on my 4x2 - I'm within 100 lbs of my front GAWR with nothing on the front (no hitch, no bike, no nuthin')

Take a look at this. It does mount higher than the Hidden Hitch so it may not work for a motorcycle rack, but it looks like a pretty slick product.
