Factory 5th Wheel Hitch
Factory 5th Wheel Hitch
I"ve searched the threads and can't find anything on this. So I'm curious if anyone has any experience with the factory 5th wheel hitch offered on the new pickups. I'm in the market for a new truck and I'm considering their hitch. Anyone have any experience with them? Thoughts?
Been using a mopar hitch for years now: https://www.allmoparparts.com/sku/82215838.html and comparing it to other aftermarket hitches that I have with my Ford, I feel like the mopar one is still sturdier and you can really feel and see that it is high quality. But I feel like parts not from factory can still exceed the quality from factory provided that the brand is known.

After driving motorhomes for 29 years and becoming sick of cost and amount of repairs and limitations of the RV, I decided to listen to experienced
owners who had switched from motorhomes to fifth wheels. New truck, new fifth wheel (and not cheap ones for either), standard hitch, hooked up
and took test drive down the interstate. 20 miles of it and had to pull over before the tears made me unable to drive. I was ready to run the whole
mess in the ditch from the horrible ride in comparison to my motorhomes. Got on forums, asked questions, and was getting some of the same
answers. First thing, put on MORryde independent suspension in place of the springs. Second, put on MORryde rubber cushioned kingpin.
Scheduled a trip to Maritimes and made a stop at MORryde in Indiana. I almost wet my pants with excitement when I hit the interstate. The ride
was a whole new ball game - - I now loved the fiver and the way I could maneuver and drive it. Then, Alaska, I had frame problems in the kingpin
area. Had it repaired in Anchorage but they highly advised me to get a air ride hitch. Again searched and settled on the Air Safe top of the line
hitch. WOW. I thought it was good before - - now it was like the fiver was not even back there. All that to say this, if you plan on moving that
baby over a lot of roads, do yourself a favor and go with an air hitch. No comparison to the ride in the truck and the MorRyde king pin just
adds another notch in amazing along with their suspension. Good luck;
