Equalizer too noisy

My latest trailer came with an actual Equalizer-brand WD hitch. This is my first experience with Equalizer, all my other WD hitches were the chain-type (e.g. EZ lift). Sure is noisy, my kids call it the "haunted hitch". Attracts lots of attention in the campgrounds, could probably call coyotes with it as it sounds like a dying rabbit. I tried to grease the pivot points and the L-brackets, didn't help. I loosened the pivot bolts and that seemed to help some at first but then it started doing it again (those are supposed to be torqued to 45-ft-lbs anyway). I checked the Equalizer website and it says the noise is normal. I think it's annoying and embarrassing. Anybody tried anything that worked?

I used the chain type lots, mine use to make a real bad noise until I greased the pivot point at the hitch, it helped. and your right you could call in coyotes.

Anything less than an extreme pressure grease would be like water under the forces that thing puts on the hitch.

I had an Equalizer hitch on my last TT. Worked great. The only noises it made was an occasional clunking noises when turning. Thats all. Maybe you're not greasing the right spots.

I bought one with mine when I bought the camper in 06 and i hate it. But as said if you grease the rite points its quiet. The only thing to keep in mind is that the grease cuts down on the amount of sway control it provides. I used to grease the L brakets as well but threw 6 years and thousands and thousands of miles of towing it I figured out that the noise is coming from te square tube pivot points. I used to greas them with regular grease from a grease gun but this year I started using White Lithium grease in a spray can. Works great. I put it on both the top and bottome of the square tube pivot points. I put it on before I hook up and pivot it around to get the grease pulled in to the bind points. No need to put it on the L braket that only makes a mess. I stopped greasing the ball as well and its nice and quiet so long as the top and bottome of the square tubes stay lubed where they pivot.

I used to have the same issue with my last travel trailer. I used Mobile One Synthetic grease and greases anywhere metal and metal was touching. I probably went a little overboard and it was quite messy but the noise was crazy if it was not greased. I would grease the bars where they went in, the rails and l brackets. I would have to grease them each time I went out, but made a big difference. Hope this helps.

Equalizer makes some hard rubber pads that go on top of the L brackets that quiet it down alot. I used them on my last trailer. And you wont get grease all over yourself when you take the bars off.
