Enclosed trailers

More questions:
I have been shopping for various brand trailers etc. I spoke with one guy/owner of a local shop(Wells Cargo). He saw my truck and told me to stay away from a 28' enclosed and would like to see me pulling a 24' w/5200 lbs axles(10K GVWR). Anything more than the 24' would be unsafe. I told him the purpose of hauler(moving contents of house plus small auto). This is a bumper pull trailer and also showed me the weight distribution hitches.

How many out there using 28' enclosed and how do they feel when you are pulling?

Seems there are as many opinions as are questions. Getting kinda nutso here.

My race trailer is a 24ft and we are looking at a 28 or possibly a 30 footer in a toy box configuration. With the truck in your sig I would see no prob going with a 30. Only thing this time around I'm also going with the 7k axles as there are more 16" tires available with heavier ratings.

I wouldn't hesitate for a moment in pulling a 28 or 30 foot enclosed trailer with your truck. Is the dealer concerned about sway? I would use the appropriate WD hitch with sway control.

I'm also wondering if the dealer gets anything special by selling the 24 footer?

Not related, but I saw a Weekend Wally yesterday on the Eastern shore of MD pulling a big 38 foot Scarab tall deck and radar arch with a Chevy 1500. It had 3 large axles on the trailer, but the truck seemed dwarfed by the load.

Your truck will pull a 30' trailer with ease. I think the guy just wanted you to buy from his stock!!

I pull a 28' Toy hauler full of toys and no problems. If you do get the bigger one I suggest getting a weight distribution hitch. Much moor control with a sway bar. Go Big and in joy it.

tell him he is an idiot and that you will bring your new 28 footer by and show it to him after you buy it somewhere else. personally, i would rather have a gooseneck for anything over 24', but like the other guys mentioned, get a good weight dist. hitch w/sway bar and you'll be just fine.
