Electrically Enept (Dumb)

I have a 2004 Dodge 2500 CTD. I put my Lance 845 on it, hook up the umbilacal from the camper to the truck, turn signals and brakes lights work ok, regular tail lights are very dim and the battery in my camper shows that it is not charging. I took the truck to the Dodge dealer, without the camper, they said they checked the electrical system and everything is working fine. Now what??

The camper is new and I had it on my other Dodge 2500, and it worked just fine.

First, check the power line that you plugged in, on the TRAILER end - weak lights can often indicate a grounding problem. Check the battery leads and all the connections on the camper end.

This is the first thing you've hooked to the truck connection ? Check all of those connections as well. Follow them through. Check the truck fuses too.

My friend has a camper just like that, and his problem was that the camper's battery was basically dead because he left the 12v to the fridge on for only a day, and sucking out any charge that the truck could give it-how long has it been since you plugged the camper in to charge the battery? And is the 12v to the fridge turned off?

Right now the battery is in the basement because the camper is winterized. I doubt that is what happened to me, I don't use the fridge on 12v, only propane and electric. However, when I get ready to get the camper ready for summer, I will make sure the battery is fully charged and see what happens. Also, that wouldn't explain why the battery was not charging when the truck was running. If that was the case, the battery should have been charging.

this maybe a stupid question, but does the plug in the rear of the truck have a live power wire to the battery? If it does check to make sure you're actually getting 12 volts to the rear.

Maybe this is because the camper battery is in the basement.

This happened before I removed the battery. Give me a little credit.
