Dumping stations?

So next Wednesday I will pick up my first TTRV Salem La 282RLSS. The question I have is f I am not in a campground, where can I dump the tanks legally, and is there normally a charge? Thanks in advance.

You can dump it at your house down the cleanout, or look around for a local pay dump station.

If you can get close enough to the cleanout at your house its REALLY handy to be able to do it when you get home. Waiting in line at the campground or rest area sucks.

Some guys aren't satisfied with dumping the tanks and giving them a quick flush.I swear they try to get them clean enough to eat out of. If there is 4-5 rigs behind you, save the 30 minute scrubbing for another day.

In Washington, most of the rest areas have a dump station thats free. Most campgrounds do as well.

Check the larger truck stops in your area. Some have dumping areas for campers and the big trucks with the custom sleepers.

You guys really know you're s..... stuff.

I've never had a problem finding a dump site. Most campgrounds have a dump.
I've been behind the **** types that have to flush the system until it runs clearer than the potable. They don't care how much it holds up others. Comments just iritates those self righteous types.

Use the facilites in your campground as much as possible. Even my wife will walk to the bath house in her pjs.
We're pretty frugal on our waste water, so often I drive home to swish the tanks before dumping. I fill the grey water much faster than than the black water. I can transfer the grey into my black. Makes a little mess to hook up the dump line, but I handle that by stepping back when I open the cap.

Thanks for the information. I am sure I will know where they all are in a month or so lol. Kinda like when one thinks they are buying a one of a kind vehicle, then they see them all around. Strange how the mind works.

It is always best to dump when done at one place/weekend. Be sure to add 2-3 gallons of fresh water & chemical(Thetford). You NEVER want to run the black tank dry .
It will be ready for the next trip and the traveling with chemical will help clean up the tank, keep it fresh.
It is recommended to do this with the gray tanks too, maybe once or twice a year. Helpd with the valves, too.
