i was looking at the same setup. i tried putting shocks on the trailer first. man what a difference. much smoother ride, i don't feel the trailer behind me anymore. i used the monroe gas magnum rv shocks. bought them from shock warehouse.com part number 555025...

I put the same Monroe gas magnum RV shocks on my 5er this spring and they did help a little. Got them at the same place you did. But I'm still looking to improve the ride.

This looks good and I've been told by others that it works very good.

It well stop a lot of the "jackrabbiting" , but not all. This is good for your truck and will improve the ride in the truck while towing but not good for the trailer. It will still be bumping and jolting down the road.

I just had some frame work done to my 5er and I'm looking for something to improve the trailer suspension. Stop all that "jackrabbiting" so there will be no need to put something between the truck and trailer.

I installed mine last week. It was worth the money. Ride improved on and off road.

I got the kit w/ wet bolts, so now no squeeks from the plastic bushings.

alcorr, come to think about it, i didn't think about the difference in ride quality in the trailer with the 5thairborne.... i've only thought about the ride quality in the truck...thanks for pointing that out. i just got back from the ca rv show in pomona and was looking at the fifthairborne came really close to buying one. really good show price... there was another vendor there showing the cushioned equalizer it wasn't the dexter brand it was the trailair brand. i can't remember the exact price he quoted me but i thought they were under 200 for the two. how much were the dexters???

Suggested retail price on TrailAir's website is $975. Under $200 would be a smokin' deal.

sorry for the misunderstanding... trailair also makes spring equalizers similar to the dexter equalizer. this is the triangle piece between the axles that attach the leaf springs to the trailer...

Installed them this weekend, only took about 3 hours with a few beverages. Most of the 3 hours was spent jacking up the trailer and pulling the 4 tires off and replacing them.

I only got the Dexter E-Z Flex Rubber Equalizer, it was $185.60 plus $9.00 for shipping. The whole kit was just over 300 but I'm only planing on keeping this trailer for a few more years before I upgrade.

When you take the Dexter equalizers off be sure not to let your children play with them, they are made in China.
