Post Commercial Boat Transportation

Hi, Its me again with another Commercial Thread.

First off, I wanna thank everyone on there input on the F650 comments. I decided to put it on hold..... For now, still gonna go test drive when I get a chance. Plus, Lately Ive been blowing alot of cash for xmas and just spent 1700 bucks on fixing my trailer and adding cool new features too it. Let alone just bought my wife and kids a nice 65 inch DLP 1080P Toshiba. Tvs are getting cheaper. Only paid 1799 with a sweet@$$ stand for it. Can you beleive this thing has 7 pip. Thats nuts.

Anyways, Im seriously about to get into boat hauling. I hear avg pay for boat hauling these days are $3.00 a mile. For the larger boats. like 30-44 footers.
Ive been looking at a few trailers and prices and let me say im totally clueless when it comes to boats. But if all works out, i should double my pay with better gas mileage and less of a headache if you know what I mean to all you car haulers out there.

Im looking at a few diff trailers and found this 1 trailer. Magic Tilt. And 1 other trailer brand just as good.

I beleive its a 38 foot aluminum with bunks. Dealer said I can add another set of bunks to it also which would allow me to pick up 2 22 foot boats. haha, thats funny with the 2's. Or for the larger boating, it would let me pick up boats from 20 foot to 44 footers. Trailer with brakes and all said would be around 10-11k. Does this sound right?? I thought these trailers were cheaper.

Anyway, my dodge can pull this so thats why im holding off too on the ferd, and cause simply i dont wanna go broke and dont have that much collateral to hire someone and pay them and pay for expensive diesel these days while waiting to get paid. Dealer also said ways of getting biz by also sending out fliers to manufacters to deliver to dealers and also there is a web page out there for boats just like CD is for cars. Anyone know of this page, I cant find it and dealer forgot whats it called.

I seend this one webpage that can haul big boats and its also a 3 car carrier. Anyone have experience or know anyobody who has 1???
Any other idears for trailers or this biz I should know???

Thanks for the input guys.

To all you car haulers out there, THIS TIME OF YEAR SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! And just looking at uship is pissing me off with all them illegals. Ive been kicked twice now for comments on illegals. Cant believe people are so cheap these days and are willing to get stuff shipped illegally for cheaper price, and willing to work for 1.00 per mile with no backhaul. ARGHHHHHHHHHH.

Thinking a better biz would to quit my MC, DOT, insurance, make a fake name, get on uship and bid cheap on expensive stuff, pick up load, chop it up and part it out, make better money and shipper cant do anything about it. This would make economy so much better for 2 reasons.
1. I get rich!!!
2. People stop being cheap and pay to have things done right legally to bring back the transport industry cause without transporters, there wouldnt be a world to live in. THATS THE TRUTH. Companys are going out of biz everyday due to cheapness and higher expenses like gas and truck prices. ECONOMY TAKING A CRAP. ALONG WITH HOUSES AND FORCLOSURES AMONG OTHER THINGS.

Sorry for the book but the economy these days really just **** me off. And its a shame for the people its screwing over.

Boats

I also have thought about looking into this. If that is the rate not bad. Almost all loads would be empty on back haul (like RV's) and you need the rate to make any money. Some brokers specialize in boats, I know one in Stockton. Boats I would think are gonna be lighter than general freight. I hauled a couple on a 40 ft flatbed boat and trailer just rolled it on.

There is a guy over on the DieselPlace that hauled boats with his Dmax, he ended up going into a big rig since loads are heavy and really took its toll on the truck. I have a been looking and thinking about changing from RV's to something different for a while too, but with the economy taking a crap I am going to hold back on any major purchases like a trailer. If worse comes to worse now all I have to do is go get a job and be like everyone else and just have a truck payment.

Not entirely true. There is a website out there like CD where you can get loads and with a little careful planning, you can have a backhaul. Im just waiting to find that site!!!

As for weight, I would luv to get a bigger rig too, but big boats that go for around 3 bucks per mile are in the 15-20k pound range which is less then what i currently tote around. The bigger boats then that would need a flatbed but obvoisly those pay more then 3 bucks. But then again, i dont have all the facts yet except a few dealers saying the same thing that going rate is around 3.00 per mile and there is alot of money in it. Especially where I live since im surrounded by 3 sides of water all within a 20 mile radius. Gotta luv florida and the little man part that I live in
