comments on 8D battery

I have always been partial to the 8D size battery for deep cycle service and/or starting also. Most specs hold them higher than a pair of golf cart batteries or other combinations. They are cheap to purchase as compaired to two or four of others and when it goes bad it is one battery that does not have to be matched. They also charge at the rate of automotive systems. A lot of owners here know more about batteries and I would like to get your comments as I am about to set up a system for my truck to operate the winch and lights on system for long periods. I am leaning towards a single 8D or could be converted to a pair of golf cart batteries.

Re:comments on 8D battery

The advantage of 6 volt golf cart batteries is that they are best suited for uses that take them near complete discharge on a regular basis. They are vastly superior to an 8D under those conditions.

If you don't discharge more than about 50% or don't deep discharge often, you will most likely be more happy with the 8D's.

If you are going to be experimenting with either of these types get to know a good chiropractor.

The 8D battery weighs about 120lbs. At least the batteries at the last place I worked at did. That is the only bad thing about them.
