Canoe Carrying?

Anyone else out there carry a canoe over the cab of your Ram?
How are you supporting the back end?
I have some Yakima bars across the cab and had a homemade "joist" for the stern but it rotted. I am looking at the Goal Post (Thule) and DryDock (Yakima) both of which get inserted into the receiver hitch and are height adjustable to support the rear end. Anyone using one of these?

Thanks

Re:Canoe Carrying?

Boy do I have the setup for ya. And it's cheap to build. Works great.

I have a saddle tool box across the back of the truck. It is a gull wing setup. I made a rack off the center of the box between the lids open. I made a front hitch and made a bracket from an old receiver bar and mounted a 1 /14" flang to it. Then I made a T arrangement out of black pipe, put some old rug around it and it's done. The Tule T thing is about 150 bucks. For the same thing. I put my 15' canoe on and pull my fifth wheel at the same time. It takes a little time and effort but works great!!!

Hope this helps

Gary
