Does the steering wheel lock? If so you could always flat tow it. Just a suggestion.

ya it will lock but i hate flat towing and i dont trust the locks on a old dodge they tend to let loose at the WRONG time lol and i dont have a tow bar i think i will be ok using the tow dolly i just need to get a set of tow lights to put on the back as no one would ever be ablr to see the tail light on the dolly once this monster is on it

I live here in TX, and have used a tow dolly with no problem. U-haul has a set of magnetic tow lights for sale at the larger lots. Also check www.ebay.com for some. Hope this helps.

Hiya swampthang!! How goes it? :-) I have towed all my fullsize Dodge's from Ramcharger to club cab dually's on our 'Super Dolly'. And nearly all had motor/trans. It's actually an old U-Haul, and reason it's considered Super Dolly is 83+inches between fenders compared to about 76in on most smaller car dollies. Plus it's made of awesome steel components, and easily has 3500lb or greater hubs/bearings. If you have access to a good solid(but mostly WIDE enough!) dolly, you'll have no problems at all. Wish I was headed up your way now, I'd swing by and pick it up for you and deliver(for the other deals...you know). But this time up, I will be towing my rv trailer. :-( 2 yrs ago Thanksgiving, I did take a Ramcharger shell to KC, and brought back yet another Ramcharger for parts with this dolly. FL-MO and back, towing with my stock 318 2bbl 4wd Trailduster(before it got totalled), zero problems! Hey, PM me, and 'make me an offer I can't refuse' and I may deliver that to you!! :-) Seeya later!

Actually, with the front sheet metal gone and front tires drawn up tight, would it still overhang out back enough to set the rear axle completely off the trailer? Though long, it seems the wheelbase wouldn't be anywhere near a real 16ft long trailer bed front-to-rear. I'm trying to imagine, but can't envision it NOT fitting onto 16ft trailer...what is the real problem there(just curious)?

When flat towing, the steering wheels should be unlocked, no locked.

well let me put it to picture for ya this is a pic of my old 93 club cab 4x4 with 4inch lift so it did go over the front of the trailer this truck is roughly 25ft front to back bumper (click link)

now the crew is about 2ft longer

you'll probably be exceeding the dollies rating, but I bet it'd work out alright.

I actually prefer a flat-tow in this situation

Yep yep, now I see's what'cha mean!! ;-) I completely forgot the extra length involved with large tire diameters and whatnot; just thinking about wheelbase alone doesn't compute to the real world, eh? But I don't see any difficulty with a good wide dolly(especially stripped truck) for your tow. Man, it's still hard to believe these dang these barely fit on a 16ft trailer, ain't it? Be safe out there, TTYL!!(just about 3 weeks till my own trip now...)
