Mopar, Okay highest possible capacity is #36504lbs truck and trailer 12 tires at 3042lbs per tire 235/85/16 load range E, this is how they come up with maximum liscenced registration weight. But trailer only has #10k axles X 2= #20,000lbs-empty weight. Truck can carry 4 X 3042 (tires)#12168lbs on the tires however GVW-3/4 2500 is #8800lbs and max towing #13,800lbs(trailer) = #22,600 GCVW DC recommends #20,000lbs GCVW. I know clear as mud but let me clarify, unless there is an accident investigation the DC numbers won' t usually directly apply. Unless the scale guy is extremely diligent he will only want 2 values the #8800 for the truck as shown on the specification plate and the trailer spec plate #20,000lbs = #28800lbs GCVW. When weighed at the scale they will be more interested in the axle weight #5200F#6084R and #20,000 trailer. If you are called in first thing that will stand out is are you registered for the amount on the vehicle specs (28,800lbs). In saying all this each individual juristiction will have its say, I would go to the registrar in your home state and inquire. I believe at #26,000lbs they want you to register and be compliant with commercial regs, seeing as you are hauling your own equipment for recreational purposes you may be excempt. I know up here we are and they leave us alone, they will sometimes ask us for proof of ownership on the equipment. Good Luck PK

 

That is my plan. Keep the truck under the 12,000 GVW and keep the traier under the 24,000 GVW. Then make sure all the axle weights are under. The only thing I will be over is the 23,000 GCVW that D/C specs, I will never be over the 36,000 total registered weight.
