Brake Controller Question

How hard is the Jordan to install?

About 30 minutes is all it takes. If got one in mine but I haven't towed with it yet. I have used the Prodigy and it worked good but I wanted a little more controll and every one has said that the Jordan was the best for control so I'm triing it.
There is picture of how mine is installed on members pictures
I had a Jordan Ultima in my 99, and I did like it. On my 04 I installed a Prodigy. It was alot easier to install than the Jordan. You can buy a wiring harness for the Prodigy that plugs right into your blue brake connector on your truck. (if you truck has the tow package) Made it really easy. The Jordan was difficult to get setup properly, and then I found my foot (size #15) hitting the bracket that mounts to the brake peddle. Then when not in use I would disconnect the cable to prevent wear and tear on the cable. With the Prodigy I don't have to worry about any of those things.
As far a performance difference, the Jordan worked well, however, I feel that the Prodigy is easier to adjust and also with the boost modes, stops my travel trailer better.
With the Jordan, I found it hard to get my trailer brakes to lock up while going though the setup process, had to set the Jordan as high as it would go to accomplish this. The Prodigy on the other hand still has 1/2 turn of the **** for more braking power to be added.

You bring up another good point with the "if your truck has the tow package" comment. My truck did not come with a tow package. Part of the agreement when I bought it was that they would install the 7-pin wiring harness and the Class IV hitch, which they did. However, I'm not sure if it has what it takes for the brake controller.
If you didn't get the tow package, how do you hook up the brake controller??

If they installed the 7 pin harness, they should have hooked up the brake controller plug as well. The plug itself is in all trucks but the brake wire terminates in a connector just behind the left front wheel.

Probably true, but what they SHOULD do and what the DO do are often two different things.
What you said about the plug being in all trucks but the brake wire terminating at the connector. I heard something along those lines before. I guess that's what I'm trying to find out the details on. How do I know if the brake wire is hooked up or not? Where is it supposed to be hooked up?

Use a test light and check for power at the brake terminal on the plug at the back bumper while someone manually activates the brake controller. If it lights, you are hooked up, if not you are either not hooked up or have a blown fuse. Also there should be 7 wires going into your plug at the back. They will also have run a (should be blue) 12 gauge wire from the front to the back.

It just me a week to read them and 30 minutes to instal it

I had the Prodigy and I'm still waiting to test my Ultima, right now is NOT a good time to take the 5VR out for spin do to the ICE in Oregon

I would go behind the dealer and check the installation of the rear harness - get rid of any Scotchloks you find and replace them with solder joints. Also check to make sure that you are tied into the fuse panel properly - there should be a separate fuse for the trailer tow harness power in the PDC under the hood.
The last thing you want to do is to plug in the trailer and fry your truck wiring harness because they pulled the trailer lights from the already marginal truck rear harness.
Personally I run separate circuits that are relayed to isolate the trailer from the truck - that way you can fry the trailer wiring and never hurt the truck - but then I am known for wiring overkill.
Good luck.
Here is where I picked up mine. Currently 106 with free shipping and give them a call to have them match a price. Great customer service.

RJay's is where I got the wiring harness for $8.99. Made it really easy to install the Prodigy!
Here is where I bought my Prodigy. Prodigy/Amazon Auction Use the "Take it Now" price for $82.99. When I bought mine it was $79.99.
