Yep, they cost more - - and worth every penny. The P2 is what I have in my storage compartment. Guess I should sell it.

The P2 will finally catch up to a Hayes G2 or Odyssey I or II. That is why they are upgrading/discounting the Prodigy. The Valley Raptor will be ground breaking. BrakeSmart (they are having problems getting parts) continues to refer their customers to MaxBrake.

I have the MaxBrake and it is incredible. If you tow in the winter, it is a must have. Inertia does not work on ice if it can't sense you're slowing down. Ask me how I know.

Has the Prodigy P-2 been released yet? if so how much is it going to be?

It will be the same as a Prodigy. Not really sure why they changed the part number, I would have just made a running change. The Prodigy has been out for awhile and has such a strong following. I am not sure the whole P2 thing is going to confuse everyone. Can't wait until they upgrade the P3, I guess it will be the P4. We will have a couple of hundred of P2s in a week or two. They look the same except for a blue digital display that also says P2, other than that the casing is the same. The PrimusIQ now has all the features of the original Prodigy.

I have heard the same extremely positive statements from MaxBrake owners who switched from Prodigy - - sounds like a good one - - might even make me take a look at one.

Try the following URL - - that is mine - - it is shown as a P2. That is what I have - - call it whatever - - maybe it is just "a" Prodigy. Whatever they wish to call it, I will sure take my Jordan over it. But I sure like the looks of the Brakesmart or MaxBrake. Having good brakes is not something I am willing to save a couple bucks on - - I want the best. Everyone that has made the switch sure brags on them. Even Jordan users who bragged on it over the Prodigy now brag on the Brakesmart or Max over the Jordan.

Never ceases to amaze me how much conversation and one sided opinions can be when it comes to a stupid brake controller or the brand of truck that is the best. Why is that? Also happens on which fifth wheel or motorhome or what car is the best. Crazee.

I have sold plenty of brake controls in my day and I try to explain to the factories when they are building new brake controls, that they are an immotional product. That is why I always suggest other controls other than the Prodigy. Not because it is not a good control, because so many people are immotionally attached to it. Sounds crazy, but it is true. You should of heard all the things people said about the MaxBrake, OdysseyII, or G2 before they got in a few vehicles. Besides, wait tell you see the Valley Raptor they really pushed the boundries of what a brake control is and how it functions.

Yes it has a manual override underneath the unit. All brake controls are required by law to have this feature.

Once again I would second Southwestwheel as providing EXCELLENT service when I needed it. Also, I had a glitch with my dad's MaxBrake, I called up Maxbrake service and they sent me a whole new brake controller kit. I used what I needed and sent the rest back. Great service from both places. They will get my business in the future. Great job.

I finally noticed it. The background was dark and I couldn't see the lever. I deleted my post, but you quoted first. :-)

They look like a great setup, the only thing I don't like is that I cant get proportional braking by just touching the brake pedal with the exhaust brake on (so the trailer matches the exhaust brake and I don't have to use the service brakes). If I didn't do that as often as I do, or didn't have an exhaust brake I don't think I would hesitate and try one.

I tow around 30k per year, all over the US. Have had the brakesmart and now the maxbrake. Like the Maxbrake the best but either are a pleasure to tow with.
Had a prodigy before, NO COMPARISON.

No guesswork just smooth braking, you really get spoiled especially as much as i tow. So Many people spend 40K for a truck, 20k-100k for a trailer, then cheap out on the one item they use the most and can make the difference between a safe relaxing trip or a not so fun trip. Makes absolutely no sense to try and save a couple of hundred dollars on a brake controller when they are so noticably superior. With Dodges New built in controller more people will see what they have been missing and the roads will be safer. Just my 2 cents but with several hundred thousand miles of towing I speak with experience (40 years towing).
