I know you can go a lot more than Dodge says you can. I've had well over a ton in mine without any problems.

Ive had 3800 pounds of shingles in mine and another time I had the bed completly full of busted concrete. The truck didnt seem to mind all the wight but it was definetly overweight. Do you wanna know what you can legally carry or what the truck can actually take. Legally it is rated for 8800lbs isn't it? minus the weight of the truck around 7000lbs so 1800lbs. Getting a load of gravel dumped in your box can be pretty hard on it, most loader operators dont care about your vehicle. A friend of mine had them dump gravel all over his tailgate on his brand new mega cab. But you can't really complain because loaders are made to fill big trucks.

I'd try about a ton or so and see how it looks then you can decide how much more you want to try. We have a 95 with a box on it, not sure how much weight the box adds but with 2 ton of gravel in the back it was sitting pretty low. Pulled fine but the stock springs didn't have much travel left.

Well......dumped 2 tons in it......hardly sagged it down, but i saw i have 2 extra leafs in there....and i got sand and graveled all over the back of the truck. I only had about 5 km's to drive....I guess it was worth the risk for my new 28x30 shop (with hoist) in the back yard!

depends on how far you have to haul, 5 miles 2 ton if you drive slow tires should hold if you max out the air pressure
