Don't even think about crossing into Canada at Sarnia . I've been in the parking lot at Customs since 5 a.m. Monday morning . At that time the 402 was closed past exit 6 and they were directing traffic to highway 22 . Then a truck jacknifed on highway 22 . Midmorning Monday they pulled plows and police vehicles except AWD SUV's off the highways due to icy conditions and whiteouts . Very bad conditions . No telling when 402 will open .

Yep, some of our drivers are sleeping in their day cabs. Can you say OVERTIME!!! Cha-Ching! The 401 was a mess as well. 4 of our drivers got put up in motels. That's never happened to me in the 11 years I've been at Chrysler.

Old man winter is here. Be safe.

Freezing rain and then lots of snow for me today and tomorrow. On the radio there is talk of some major closures here after the rain hits. Seems like every 10 days a major system moves across areas of North America.

 

Yeah , and the 402 is only a little over 70 miles long . The weather has cleared . They are rescuing stranded people using Army helicopters . It'll take a while to remove all those stranded vehicles

 

2 of our drivers rescued some of our other drivers using snowmobiles!

Approaching the Ambassador bridge is backed up 4-5 miles on I-75 each direction. 3-4 lanes wide.
Fun times. My normal run takes me across it every night around 02:00. Maybe not tonight.

 

Still no word on when the 402 will open . I don't think they will give any advance notice . They won't want trucks lining up for the bridge . Loaded trucks in the Sarnia Customs parking lot want to go back to the states but it's a major hassle trying to get U.S.customs to accept a load with a Canadian destination on the bills .

 

402 East bound is partially open.
West bound is still closed.

 

I left Sarnia 4 a.m. Thursday . One lane was clear Eastbound 402 . I could see them towing vehicles on the Westbound . I think Westbound opened around 10 a.m.
