Backup lights

I just finished installing backup lights on the back of my RV.

I can't help but wonder why they dont all come with them.

I find when backing into a site at night, it is not the back that worries me. My backup lights work fine there. It is the sides I can't see. It is so easy to run the fiver into a tree that you can't see on the dark sides. The installation of boat docking lights on the side of the fiver really helps this. I learned this from my motorhomes. The basement storage doors make a great place to install these lights. You can buy them at most any marine supply stores. You can easily get to the doors to mount the lights. They are flush on the outside with the door and point toward the rear. Hook them up with a relay off your trailer battery - - when the backup lights are activated, the docking light relay hits and turns on those lights. Mounting them in the storage doors makes it easy to install, easy to service them and to wire them in. Using the relay and the fiver battery reduces the drain on the wiring from the truck. Of course, nothing takes the place of the CFO at the back of the rig with her radio keeping me posted on my blind side. Obviously the other option is to go in the coach and turn on the "scare" lights. (whoever named them that???? DUH)

I agree, I went to the local auto parts store and baught 4 fog lights. Two for the back bumper of the fver and two to go under the axles of the trailor. Wired them into the 7-way pigtail and plugged them in. Work great, the lights uder the axles show me where my tires are at all times and has kept me from backing into a ditch several times.

I mounted a Hella dual bulb street sweeper on my trailer. Replaced the 55w lamps with 100's. Hella relay.

Nice ride Fiverbob, maybe my Arctic Fox will grow to that someday........... I have 2 55 watt lights mounted under the back of my truck and a back up camera on the bumper, works like a charm.
