Try loadhub.com, some say they aren't as updated as central. Also there is uship.com which is mostly P.O.V.

The only problem I saw with uship was that the bids are so low that you wouldn't be able to make any money. Some of the quotes that I saw ended up being about .35 a mile and that just won't pay the bills.

uShip is not a realiable source for loads at all. It is POVs and the people are out to find the cheapest transportation. If they wanted they cheapest they should probably be going with DAS but instead they will start emailing back and forth with a small owner op and then back out at the last second probably after a contract is signed

I would not bother. You could check www.carsarrive.com but I am told that there's no where near as many loads as central dispatch.

BadRamerJamer, how is central dispatch? From what I've heard the pay per mile per car on there is prett lowy... around 30 cents per mile? No personal experience though.

What else I have heard is that if you get 3 cars going in the same direction off central dispatch, it is at 3 different pick up locations and 3 different drop offs. That is a lot of time. Also have heard that 2 SUVs or trucks pays nearly the same as 3 cars, and less time spent going to different locations saves time and gets you on your way.

Again, just a lot of "what I have heard" but no experience.

I am in the mode of trying to figure out what will work out for me but I doubt that'll happen until I am up and running. If I could make the same money with a 2 car hauler than a 3, I would gladly sell the big trailer for a smaller one. Pulling my 3 car hauler around here (NYC metro area) is a little nerve wracking.

Central Dispatch is just a hosting site for everyone in the auto transport world. They don't pay you anything, or set price's. They just provide a contact point for shipper's and transporter's to meet. The shipper's/broker's set the price. If there are decent,,they pay fairly. But there's alot of them out there that don't. You can alway's negotiate the price. Sometime's they ask for bid's. They're always trying to get it done for nothing. I alway's try to get more because of the price of fuel. Sometime's they kick in a little more, sometime's they don't.

If you are desperate enough to take a car paying .30 a mile,,,that's your own fault. But there are guy's with the $2,500 a month payment that will take that car. The pay rate is all over the place. You just have to stay on top of it when the load's get posted. The good paying one's go fast, then you have to settle for what's left.

Unless you just have to get rid of the big trailer,,,I wouldn't go with a 2 car. It's tough enough with 3. The maintainance in this buisness is a killer. I'm alway's puttin money out for something.

Nah I definitely don't need to get rid of it. Just wouldn't mind a 16 foot shorter trailer! Once I am on the highway it is fine but getting around town here is a little sceery. Mine is only 96" wide too. Not sure, but I think that real tractors have the ability to cut their wheels a lot further than a Dodge pick up truck...

I got the 3 car for $2500 and fixed it up. Now it is ready for work. Brand new just about everything. Just trying to figure out when to bite the $800 a month insurance bill bullet to hopefully break even in the first month or so as I learn my way around.

I need to check out the auction scene, as well as the new foreign cars coming in off of the boats at the ports of entry here on the coast.

Are you working for yourself now Ramer?

You're right about the big truck's turning tighter. What also makes a differance is where the trailer axle'a are. When they are so far forward, you stand a better chance of hitting something in the other lane if you are'nt carefull.

And yes, I'm FINALLY working for my self. Thing's are so much better now. Now if I could just stop having those argument's back and forth with the boss,,,people wouldn't think I was so strange.

BRJ: Finally working for yourself? How did you do it before? What makes doing your own thing better? are you booking your stuff on the fly, or do you schedule out a few weeks? I'm considering giving it a go myself...I don't think I'll forgive myself if I don't try it...sooo, I'll likely be full of questions here pretty shortly

I was leased onto someone else before. I paid them a percentage of the load. Now I have my own authority, and I get the whole thing.

Generally, the car's are ready now. Sometime's in a few day's. Rarely, a few week's. But there are some case's like that. Sometime's I'm short a car for a full load coming home, so I take my laptop with mith to get one "on the Fly".
