The bolts for the tailgate latch line you up, just make sure you are straight when you hit them. I lower my trailer just enough you can feel it hit the ball and slide over.

I have a camera (Walmart cheap one) located on the headache rack behind the sleeper on the FL (ain't no back window....). That gets me just about where I need to be and with a bit of back-and-forth I get her hooked up no problem.

The cameras are meant for license plate mounts. I also have one on my military ambulance, and they seem to be a reasonable ($$) fix.

I bolted a 6 inch round convex mirror to the GN on the trailer, angled down to ward the ball, I can see ball when backing up. I have tool box fuel tank combo, so I cant see the ball. This mirror works great.

I can't see the ball in my MegaCab either. With the '99 it was easy as I could sit up in the seat a bit and see the ball.... When I first bought the Mega, I thought it would be a real pain.

Instead I don't look over my shoulder at all I just line the sides of the trailer up equally in the side mirrors of the truck and back into it. 9 times out of ten I am bang on, sometimes need to move ahead or back an inch or two but it's no big deal.

Just practice that a couple times and you will be gold.

Just forget about using the "crutch" of looking over your shoulder. Mind you I have also been used to hooking up OTR trucks in the same manner, so I maybe have a little more practice.

cheap me had a 2' scrap 4x4 with a dowel fastsened in the middle. I can reach over the bed side and set it in front of the ball. I can see when it wiggles I have touched it. Never missed yet. I can also tap the latch closed with the 4x4 and reach in and close the saftey latch (i'm tall). Shor runs I don't even hook the saftey chains..Shame shame...but easy!

Backing to GN Hitch

I did something similiar to xyzer. I used a short piece of metal stud, notched the end of it so it would fit in front of the ball, put a metal cross-piece on it, and to it, I screwed a piece of metal EMT conduit. I put this in front of the ball, back up until the conduit moves, get out and drop right down on the ball. Has never failed yet! I call it my pat-pending device.

I pat-pend mine in wood....!! I also figured i could drive a wheel on the 4x4 and change a trailer flat....multi purpose! But wait if you order now I'll throw in free matches for an emergency fire kit! Either they work good......

with a toolbox or high fuel tank, you can't see the tail gate.

The "O" in MOPAR lines up with the GN hitch. Even though the MOPAR is gone, the O is still visible in the tint.

I do the same as mentioned earlier with an old magnet base CB antenna. Store it under the gooseneck when not used. When I back up to the trailer and jump out to lower the tail gate, I grab the antenna from the trailer and swing it over the side of the box right in front of the ball. Then you can back up from any angle and you can jack the trailer up enough so if it settles in the dirt you don't have to worry about the feel method mentioned previously. Once the antenna starts to move, I know I'm right over the ball and inline.
