1st tow 2002-2500 HO 6spd

;D
First off - WOW!

I have been towing for a few years, mostly campers. The past few years I have been towing a 24' Terry Expo with a Toyota Tacoma SR-5. This was/is a great truck, but was approaching its maximum ability to tow. And the wife and kids were getting tired of the roll down the windows and no AC for the summer pulls. So we invested in a 2002 - 2500 HO 6spd with 354 gears.

I have accumulates 8,000 miles all empty hauling nothing but groceries and the kids stuff. I was beginning to think "this is a big truck for groceries, will I ever use it?" So, this weekend I had a chance to tow a enclosed 24' race trailer, about 6,500 lbs. Let me say, this truck can pull! Set the cruise at 65, windows up, AC on, never lugged one time. I am very impressed. All stock and only plan to add gauges and maybe exhaust brake. Now I remember why we bought the truck, I just have to remember to use 1st gear when pulling.....Can't wait for the beach camping trips. I hope to see some of you guys on the road sometime.

We need some "Diesel Truck Resource" bumper stickers so we can recognize each other when we are out and about.

Tim

The more you tow with it, the more you will love it.

An exhaust brake is an excellent idea. There are many good ones out there.

I would agree! I too own a 02' 2500 H.O. 6-SPD. Before this winter I went to the gravel pit for a load of sand, I took a bucket and a half from a 966 cat loader. The over loads were level, springs were level, tires at 85psi were half flat and the truck handled it with ease! I think it actually ran better! ...I look forward to putting a camper on it.
