15" trailer tires - 2600# load rating

I'm looking into a new set of trailer tires since the ones are my gooseneck are showing signs of age and wear. Also, I had to pull a nail out of one of them and plug the tire. One the tires had been run for a while with the wheel bearings waaay too loose and wore it down pretty good on the inside corner (note: I purchased the trailer in this conidtion). With all these factors involved, my comfort level with the current set of tires is just not that high.

The trailer is a 10,400# gooseneck (2 - 5,200# axles) and is currently on 15" 6 on 6.5" modular wheels. I've also noted that the current tires load rating is only about 2400#, so I'm giving up 400# per axle in available capacity.

I'd like to run the Goodyear Marathon radials, but I can only find 15 inchers in 225/75 R15 with a max load rating of 2540#..... still under the 2600# capacity I'd like to find, but only giving up 120# per axle in available capacity. I can get Marathons in a 3000# load rating, but that require stepping up to 16" wheels and the extra cost that would entail.

Anyone have any suggestions on 15" trailer tires with at least 2600# load rating?

From what Ive seen you need to check your rim max load as well. Some of the aftermarket stuff is pretty weak. Im in the same boat with my stock trailer and Im gonna go to 16s for some HD truck tires.

I had to look for stouter tires for 15 inchers several years ago, I didn't find any at all higher than the 2540's. I finally had to go to 16's to get the higher cap. Bought Cooper truck tires to put on them. Still have the 16" rims, used 4 of the tires on the old truck before I traded.

Titan has a really good reputation on the camping forums and they make a 15", e rated, 225/75-15 with 2830 lb. rating. takes 80 psi of air.

Wow CUJO thats news to me I'v never saw a 15 in E rated tire. Most all trailers are undertired, especially RVs.
