I'm new to TT hauling and was wondering if anybody had any experience with the 07's built in exhaust brake and brake controller combination.

I've noticed the exhaust brake can kick on pretty hard while in tow haul mode and I'm concerned that with a prodigy controller things will get a little interesting because of the sudden jerk from the exhaust brake.

I have an 07 with the 6.7 liter automatic.

Any advice or observations would be appreciated.

I have had my truck since Nov 07 bought the truck to tow my 5er. The truck is a 6.7L CTD and an auto 6 spd 68RFE with the exhaust brake, I also use the Prodigy brake controller.
The exhaust brake is on all the time when I tow my 5er and the truck is in the tow/haul mode also. I have had no issues at all with operating the truck this way. I have pulled out west in the Bad Lands and I have towed all through the mid-west with the 5er.
I love the way the truck will slow down without using the brakes at all, I just take my foot off the accelerator and the truck will start to slow down with the transmission down shifting when needed. With the exhaust brake engage I think this will extend the brake pad life, a side benefit.

 

Plus I love the sound the EB makes...

 

You're going to love it, coming down a steep and winding mountain road with a big trailer has never been so much fun or easy for me.

I've pulled our 16ft flat bed with 70 square bails on it and noticed the exhaust brake along with tow haul mode could be a little jerky when slowing down but like you guys said its really effective.

Now I just need to get the brake controller hooked up. Can you guys recommend a good spot?

If you tow a lot and can afford it, do yourself a favor and buy a Brakesmart controller - - you won't have any problems with jerking. A prodigy jerks with no exhaust brake. YUK

My Prodigy does not jerk.
If you think about it the EB will not actuate the inertial controller, here are the scenarios:
1) You turn EB on on the downhill and have not applied the service brakes yet: no jerk and no trailer brake action because Prodigy only activates when the brakes are applied.
2) You turn EB on after applying the service brakes (probably too late actually). There will be a slight jerk but it is so short that the momentum of the rig will dampen the split second long trailer brake application completely. I would bet you would not even notice anything. I don't on my truck.
