Wiki

I'm not sure if you guys know anything about Wikipedia, but I have been seriously thinking of setting one up for DTR. For more information, go to http://en.wikipedia.org

wiki can be a good source of info, but can be inaccurate because ANYBODY can modify it. they do have moderators going around and verifying the info, which we have here, but i dont always trust the info.
jack, are you wanting to have an entry for dtr? there are some websites that are on there. you could put a link from dodge ram entry or cummins entry. it would help w/ the number of members and get new insight. it would be a good idea

We can setup our own wiki, hosted on the DTR server and have more control over it so everyone couldn't edit, but maybe a few technical specialists. For instance, here is one for a scanner site that is very well done...

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Main_Page

I'm thinking we could do the same thing here so we can use it as a quick reference.

If you can maintain control over the editing, Wiki can be a valuable resource. If the site can handle the bandwidth, I'd say go fer it.

That'd be the way to go - let's take a poll!

I haven't had a chance yet to do this because I am getting ready to go to school in November. At that point, no real software work will be done on the site until I get back. The school lasts for 7.5 months so unless someone else would know how to set it up, it's going to have to wait for now. Sorry about that.

hmm... Not being in NC with the software is the major downfall, my dad is very good with websites and that kind of thing. Can it be added from a remote location. Im willing to mod a wiki fourm and help get it set up if needed....

Have only run into Wikipedia once; an active thread on synthetic engine oil that got into a useless war of words (JMO). Found 3 errors in as many paragraphs in a quote from Wiki. Not impressed... but like I said, only the one exposure.

Wow - Max doesn't need that much training... sounds like you're in for a spell of continuing education - good luck!
