I have been a member since Oct 19/02 (and before that as west coaster *note the space*) and have watched this site grow and change.
This is somewhat of a "rude" question, but does the site generate enough revenue to make a living? Or does it generate enough to cover costs? what kind of costs would be incurred? (bandwidth would be one of them...)

I am interested in some of the general "behind the scene" accounting that is necessary to run a web site.

 

I am unable to address the numbers as I have no idea what they are.
However, I do know that the members donations do make a significant impact here on DTR. I also know that the ads do help.
As far as making a living, well.. I have no idea. The staff are all volunteers. The pay is truely in the fun we have.


As the National Chapter President, the Local Chapter funds that I recieve get used for envelopes, stamps, and mailing related items like that.
If any funds are left over at the end of the year. I donate them to DTR.

I can't say I am looking for specific numbers, just a general outline or a percentage of revenue to expenses type thing.
Anything more specific would be intruding into an area I have no buisness asking about.

edit: Hmmmm.... perhaps the whole question is none of my buisness, just something I was curious about.
