question for moderators

Was hoping I could get some clarification. I posted recently on the competion thread. My signature read just as it does below except the "1973 BMW" linked to a web page of that car on Cardomain.com. The "1973 BMW" link was removed and the following was left in the sig..."Advertising link removed, signature violation".

I've re-read the rules and I'm still not clear on the violation? Is Cardomain considered an advertising link and that is not allowed?

I appologize. I just want to understand the infraction so it's not repeated.

Thanks!!

No advertising links allowed in your signature, that right is reserved for the guys who pay to help keep the site free for everyone.

Look at a link before you try to put it in your signature, if the page has google or yahoo banners all over it, it is considered an advertising link.

So if the link is to a not for profit forum (no ads and only donations for support) for say a specific brand of trailer would that be allowed?

No sir, if it was to another forum it would be considered advertising as well.

Basically what we are dealing with here is that we only allow the paid site sponsors to put links in their signatures. I used to try and mediate the other links a little by allowing those that were obviously not for profit but then we grew too large for me to keep up with it.

I started getting complaints like "how come you let that guy have a link but removed mine? You must like his better than mine huh? that kind of stuff." So the only fair way I could do this was to remove them all so as not to show favoritism's toward one over another..

If it is to a webpage only showing the picture of your truck, I leave them be.
