Private Messages...

Re:Private Messages...
Looks like the server bottomed out today, we now have over 5000 more members than this server was intended to carry.
We had to reclaim some operating space so a bunch of old ones were probably deleted. You need to try and keep those things down to a minimum when possible, they are eating up valuable space here.
We are in the process of looking for new equipment, sorry for any inconvenience

Re:Private Messages...
What Lary said is correct. I am in the process of writing code that will put limits on the amount of pm's can be stored in one's inbox. The reason for this is because we have limited server resources and the site grew much faster over the last year than anticipated. This is a good thing, but also creates problems. There were over 100,000 pm's sent in the last 10 months. That's a ton. I had to delete about 45,000 of them today because they're just eating up resources. If you have pm's with good info, please copy it down, save it on your computer, then delete the message. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it had to be done in order to free up some space and processing resources.

Re:Private Messages...
That's not a problem, just kind of suprised me. When I asked several months ago, people had over 100. I was only half way there, but cleared up some more now.

On a whim, I looked at how many pages were in the aftermarket accessories forum.
221 pages, going back to October.
Not even 2 months are stored and its still that huge?
This must be a popular site or something.
Time for another fundraiser?

This probably doesn't belong here, but I saw that somebody mentioned fundraiser(s).
Just FYI......I've learned more this past month about CTD's than I though imaginable. ALL because my lift pump went out and I was looking for some information regarding the CTD's and warranty and yadayadayada.
Anyway, if you guys ever, EVER need some donation $'s to maintain this site, SIGN me up.
Thanks guys.. Magnum

Jack, if you can convince Top to quit PM'ing me three times a day, this may save a lot of space. He just won't take a hint. I wonder if he harrasses everybody this way? I've been trying to be polite about it, without trying to make him distraught.

Jack, I'm pretty sure YaBB has an option to limit IMs in the Admin panel. I'll double check on the site I help out on to double check. Might be one of the mods that allows you to limit or increase.

Yup.. SuperMod add on allows you to limit the IMs. Screen shot attached.

I appreciate the help. However, I have done so many mods on this thing on my own that many of the yabbse mods will break the forums. That's not an option for me at this time. I may just have to wait until I make the switch over to Vbulletin. Many more features, faster, and more stable.

Oooooooooo! You'll love it. Although it'll drive you nuts with all the additional "features" in the admin panels. No comparison between the two, actually. Vbulletin is far superior.
