Just curious - is there is a minimum number of characters that is necessary to qualify as a post???

You could try using just three words and see what the admins have to say about it.

Every post is put to a vote by the moderators.

If it contains useful information, then you get 1 added to your post count.

If it is a useless post, you have 1 subtracted from your post count.

With 7 moderators, you have to have 4 "yes" votes to get the post to count.

Mr. Thorpe, can of course, trump the vote if he finds the post particullarly useless,
and subtract 2-5 from your post count.

This is why posts in the "other" forum don't count anymore.
It got too time consuming trying to vote on them, and 99% of them aren't usefull anyway.

Around here there seems to be NO LIMIT to the number of characters posting

Never had a reason to find out that particular tidbit, so your guess is as good as mine

I am of course kidding.

I wouldn't think there would be a minimum?

Nope, Looks like you can have just one digit and it still adds to your post count.

***NOTE***
I dont advise this for the only reason of boosting your post counts. Jack/Lary has taken the counts off before because of abuse and Im sure they wont hessitate to do it again if need be.

I have never figured out why post counts are so important to some of you. Personally I really don't care what my post count is and for all I care, that function can be removed. However I do like to see how many times a thread has been read and how many replies it has generated.
So why are post counts important

Remember Dr. E lives in Canada so you have to multiply his posts by .67 to get the American equivilent to his posts....

We love you Dr. "E"
