It just depends on when one of the Admins has time to go in and approve them. It usually doesn't take over a 24 hour period because one of us normally checks from time to time. Yours are in BTW.

Another question on pics.....

I notice some members have more pics than others. I have 14 pics currently and would like to add more without deleting any. Is there a way, a procedure, a request to make....to be able to add more? I have donated to the site and don't mind donating again. Thanks!

Each user is allowed 5mb of disk space usage in their album. Even though some other users may have more photos than you, they are most likely smaller in file size. Your best bet is to clear out some of your pictures from the gallery and re-upload them after reducing their filesize.

Jack, im not sure I know how to do that. (resize the pic)

I just take the pics and then download them into the computer and they are what they are.

Are you saying some of the guys with like 25 pics in their galleries all have smaller pics and only take up the same disk space? They look the same size to me.

I have been deleting some out to add others, but im kinda cutting into the bone now. Thanks for your help or suggestions. Is there any plans to possibly add more disk space for each user?

I re-size all my pics to a max of 500 pixels on the long side.

My camera is set to 1600 X 1200, then I use a picture formating software to reduce them to 500.

Do not save them as high quality jpegs. Knock the quality down to around 60-75% and you'll find the file size isn't quite so large.

Can somebody explain to me in simple terminology how to resize a picture? I have pics in both "ulead photo explorer" that came with my digital camera....and also "adobe photoshop". I have played around with the Adobe but I can't seem to find a way to resize the pics. I know how to sharpen up the images or change the contrast etc.....but the resizing I just can't seem to figure out.

I would like to resize some pics to be able to put more in my gallery if I choose to.

Also,I'd like to make one pic real small and possibly use it as my avatar.

I have no experience with Photoshop, but I downloaded a free program called Irfanview. It's easy to use and works well for resizing pictures. I'm sure it does other cool stuff too.

Usually in most photo programs you will see the word "image" at the top left of the page, next to file and edit. Click on image and it should show you the size of the picture in pixels something like 2400x1600.

Change the larger number to 500 the smaller number will change itself if you have clicked the box to keep the normal aspect of the picture. That should make it small enough to fit on here.

Lary,

Thanks but it still isn't working. I swear I have studied and looked around on this Adobe Photoshop for hours and it just doesn't appear to have a way to resize the pic. I can look on a pic's "properties" and see what the size is, but I can't resize it.

On my top left corner of my page I see file and edit, but no "image".

I have right clicked on the pics, and played with cropping features, contrast, etc.etc. I have made duplicates of pics in my records. I just can't seem to find the answer to this one.

Does anybody use Adobe Photoshop? Can you explain to me how to resize a pic using this program?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have 6.0 and in mine you click on Help Then click on Resize Image.

Hope that helps.

One thing to keep in mind when resizing your pictures...The larger the file size, the better the photo looks when printed as a BIG photo. Once you resize your pictures they may not print out as nice if you decide to print an 8"x10" later on.

What I do is keep a separate folder for pictures that I resize for here, then I make a copy of my photo and resize the COPY, keeping it in the separate resized folder. This way the original photo is left intact in case I decide I need it for something else.

You can download (for free) from Microsoft something called Windows XP Powertoys (assuming you have XP). There is one "toy" that lets you resize pics very easily by navigating to the folder they are in and right clicking on them, either one at a time or a whole group at once. The program will either create copies (with a different name automatically for you) or replace the original. It is very handy when you have, say 250 pictures from vacation that you want to downsize to post on a website. A few clicks and I was done
Click here for the whole list of powertoys for XP
