Mobile access to forum

Hi guys,
Not sure if this has been brought up before or not....is there a lo-fi version of the board? I would really like to be able to read posts and reply via my Blackberry. Is there anything like that now?

I like that idea.
There is nothing designed specifically for lo-band. However, Jack has done a lot of tuning to keep the site as fast as possible for our dial-up users.
I realize the differences between wireless (lo-band) and dial-up, but I do not know how the site would load on a hand-held.

Rich.

I cruise around the DTR on my SmartPhone all the time. If you set up your screen right, everything is easy to find and navigate.

What OS are you running? Chances are your browser is better than the BB's.

Surfing the forum is possible...just not optimized for mobile devices.

I know some forum software packages have a lo-fi/wap version option. Maybe vBulletin will have it for their next release...just thought I'd ask. It would be cool to post something (say an installation question), go out to your truck, mobile device goes off when someone replies (e-mail notification), jump on the forum and see what they said....I know...I'm a bit of a geek

My Cingular SmartPhone is running Windows Mobile 5.0. I can view DTR as a web page or single column on some screens. Some sites, such as NBC5I.com (local TV station) are set up for cell use and have very few graphics and single column browsing. The screen on the new phones are much clearer than the old ones. Hotdram has an Audiovox phone, and he can't believe how much clearer my screen is. Mine also has a 1.3 megapixel camera.

Howardsforum.com has some instructions on how to make the net run faster by editing the phone registery, but I ain't smart enough to figure it out...yet.

Yeah, see the Windows based devices have their mobile version of Internet Explorer (which 99.99999% of sites are optimized for) so they'll typically render a site better. Us with non Microsoft software (kill the empire!) have to hope the webmasters' code is compliant with enough standards so the pages aren't funny looking on the remaining browsers.

Anywho, let us know when the mobile DTR is ready

You can find a more generic version of the site here. You can't post in this format, but you can at least read it...
