I would like to see a DTR meeting with all members invited. It could be a once a year thing. We could figure out a central meeting place that everyone could be in reach of( ya some will just be far away) and we could put faces with names and the such. We could turn it into a sled pull and drag race, or a senic drive to show the world our pride and joy, or we could sit around a bone fire and talk shop. It would be neat to see that many members and cummins in one place. What do you think?

It's a great idea but the logistics of an event that size are daunting. If 1% of our members show up, that's over 400 people!

most of us are insane anyways LOL it could be done. You got to think positive! I am sure we can find a ranch here in Texas that can hold us. There are also large convention centers like the one in vegas or the one that sema uses. I would be willing to pitch in some money to rent it out and I am sure others would too!

 

I would not mind doing something like that if my boss would cover my travel fees... It would be a bear trying to get my truck all the way out there, tho... maybe we could have an east and west.

Defiantly agree that it would be great. I may get jumped by some members that don't like me, tho...

 

Can you imagine feeding 70,000 people? That would make for a long line at the buffet table.

 

I like the east and west idea!! That will help with size issue. If every body that wanted to go, puts in $20 then if 1% (400) showed interest that would be $8,000 or even better if 70,000 people showed up that would be $1,400,000. With this money we could rent a place by lots of stakes and have people bring their pits to shoot the crap while cooking. My pit could easly hold 100 stakes, and as long as you have meat on the grill all day and serve all day, you won't get all jammed up. Have each chapter bring a pit or two and cook for their area. Even the little webers will work. It won't be that big of a deal to cook. Just get a fire going throw some meat on, every now and then check em flip em put a log on. When you get hungry go get some food. All money that is left over will go back into DTR to keep it oiled and rolling. What other set backs do you got?

 

This sounds like the man with the plan. I'm in. I got a smoker and a few grills. I'll load em up and go. Just say when!

 

ok I put some more thought into this and this is what I came up with. I used to help run a arena here in Stephenville, Texas and this is a large enough facility to hold us. We have put on CCR concerts here (ragweed not clear water) holding 25,000-35,000 people with no problems. That was in just the main arena, there are two indoor arenas and one outside arena which would make a great sled pull area. There are 100 RV hook-ups with water and electric. Plenty of room to park and/or run a generator. There is a bar there and a place to get food. We could get a band if we want. We could also setup a dyno too! Not much for the 1/4 mile guys, but there is a track about 1 1/2 hours away. I really think this is some thing that we can do. Madhat, maybe you could put up a servey on all section that would ask; would you go, would you pay $20, how far would you drive, and the such. Shoot me stright here and tell me if this would be of interest to DTR. We don't have to do it here but it's an idea.

Technically, you can do whatever you want, but if you want to stick the DTR's name on this, we need to make sure that we are doing this the right way and not stepping on any rules.

I will say this, it will be a hard thing to get a commitment from people... It is a great thing to in theroy, but when you actually come down to it...


I'm not a naysayer, tho. I'll personally do whatever I can to make this work for you, and I'll talk to the boss about the DTR getting it...

that would be great!! Let me know what he thinks. I would for sure like it to be a "DTR" thing! I am not known well enough around here to get every one involved but this site is. I am not looking to profit from this, I just think it would be really cool. I understand what you mean about getting people to show up but we have the number thing on our side.
