Editing Old Posts

So how, in my ongoing efforts to post "How To . . . " threads, can I update existing posts that are older than one day? Without worrying you guys?
The thread mentioned above is a good example (Basic turbo intake tube upgrade). At the bottom of the original post, I included links to related topics (Old Smoky Mount, my cold air box, etc).
At the time I posted it, I knew of Ouchman's tightwad mount, but couldn't remember the name. OK, fine, I'll just edit it in later when I remember.
DOH!
After seeing it was locked, I asked a staff member to edit it for me. And they did (thanks
). But I'm also somewhat a stickler for detail. Type A personality mess. If you'll notice in that thread, I've taken the time to use quite a bit of the VB code and hidden the URL's and had them present as simple name links. The edit made for me does not include such. It stands out, and to me, reflects on my proof reading abilities.
I often find I might be able to better explain something with a simple tweak of a few words. Days after the initial post.
Is it an issue if one were to lengthen the edit time limit to a week perhaps?
Perhaps you could create a user-group with such editing capabilities and on request have folks moved there for a period of time. . . . .. ?
I'm not fussing or anything like that. Just trying to suggest ways to not stifle the creative effort presented by some. I've got three "How To . . . " threads to post in the near future.

This is THE place for CTD info you know.

For my own information, is there a technical or administrative reason for imposing the time limits?
