The new software skips it until someone else posts on it.

You just can't see it until someone else posts.

Pretty weird, but that's progress.

As a user who's posted in a thread, that post will show up in "new posts" for everyone but you. That is the way the new system is designed and there is nothing I can do about it as far as I know. I'm curious though, why does it matter if you know that you posted, and it's there?

well at first, i thought that my post in threads were not being taken because i would check at the new post to make sure it went throught, then once i started to see them not go to the top of the new post page, i was a little worried that no one else was seeing them either. It was basically just a check for me to make sure that my post went through and also to gauge what new activity had gone on since my last visit. I also liked to see how many people have read the post, even though they may have not replied. I guess it was just little corney things that I liked to use it for, but probably no one else took notice about. Thanks for the reply.

I think it is just habit for me. After I post to several threads I hit the "New Posts" button and see the threads I've postsed. Now that doesn't happen. You can subscribe to a thread, but that does not show up either when you hit the "User C" button.

I like to reread the post after a few mins and correct spelling, grammer errors, puncuations, ect. Now it won't come back up in the "New Posts" until someone responds. That make take a day.

It just takes some getting use to.

You nailed the explaination perfectly in another thread. When the user nails the "post" button, the post is already "read" by that user. I think there is a way to "delay" the marking of posts. You still retain the benefits of using the database to keep track of posts, but it allows users to retain the "old way" of looking at posts. And it's less server intensive than the current database marking system.

I'll PM the option to you.

Now.. For those of you that are finding little issues here and there, here's a little trick. This new version of vBulletin heavily uses AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML). Every now and then, it's necessary to press CTRL-F5 to clear things and get AJAX working again in your browser.
