DTR Technical Information

Admins,

I was looking at another forum today (not automotive related) and noticed that there was a lot of server information at the bottom of each page. For example, it showed (at the time of the request) server load, number of queries used, and script execution time. I thought this was pretty cool.

Do you think it would be possible for us to get someting like that? You guys say our server is pushing it's capabilities, and I believe you, I just think it would be cool to be able to see real time what the server load was (be able to compare at different times of day) from our end, and that type of info. I know we had execution time in the last software.

Also, is there any documentation on here that says what type of server (and other equipment) that DTR uses, connection to the outside world (is it at someone's house on a T1, datacenter , etc.)...if not, there might be some interest in having this.

Great site weather we have that or not, I'm just a computer nerd....can't help it. I would love to see what's going on behind the scenes here at the DTR.

Poll anyone?

Thanks,
Josh

The server is a generic 1.6ghz 1u machine in a datacenter. Inflow to be exact. I work here so it was easy for me to get space. The Internet connection is a 5mbps pipe throttled by QOS. The acutal connection in the datacenter is 3 OC3's to UUnet, Digex and Savvis.

The server is located in Durham, NC at our datacenter location here. One of the most popular clients here is also Howstuffworks.com. They're about 5 feet from my server is another cabinet. Cool guys who run it.

I'll get some more info out about it later, but that's the basics.
