Changes to Search Functionality

I've been doing some updating on the search functionality, and I'm testing these on a TRIAL basis. If I see too much load on the server, then I might have to knock these back a little bit.

1. Changed search limit from 60 seconds to 30 seconds, so you don't have to wait as long in between searches.

2. Changed the minimum word limit from 4 to 3. I know a lot of people have asked for this so they can search for things like kdp issues

3. Changed the server load at which search is temporarily disabled. You should RARELY see this now.

Enjoy.

I have not seen a "search disabled" message since the new server went online. Good work, Jack.

Thanks. I appreciate that.

Ya know, I just thought of something. It's interestingi how many replies you get when you take something away vs. adding something in terms of functionality.

You're welcome It is much faster, and the server load is incredibly lower than the old machine. I remember when I bought that old machine three years ago. It lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. It was a GREAT machine, and still does some basic stuff for the site, but nothing like it used to.

What he meant to say,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it don't smoke up the building like it did and he doesn't need to pay anyone to stand FIRE-WATCH anymore!

Wonder what Top is going to do around here now?

Nice job Jack. Works well from what I can tell.... what sort of internet connection are you running for that server? Can we have some pictures of it?

If you watch the The first DTR video that Jlipskoc made, you can see a picture of it there. I'll try and get some more pictures this week. The Internet connection is 3 OC-12's multihomed through Juniper M10i's, going into Cisco 6509's and then 6506's. Our bandwidth allocation is 20mbps. We have never utilized over 6mbps, and we average about 1.5 to 2.5mbps.
